Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Cathedral

Again, I went down memory lane and visited the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
I used to sketch its bell tower from my Grade 5 classroom where I got a good view of the Church. I loved First Friday Masses when I had to walk the long aisle for Offertory and Holy Communion, I was imagining I was Edward VI being crowned King of England by Fr. Kucher.
Since Cubao became a Diocese, the Church was elevated to Cathedral status and underwent a beautiful renovation retaining its simple grandeur.
After taking photos with my handy camera, I walked to the second pew where I used to pray before exams. I knelt and whispered a very short prayer - "Thank You".

    Nice pic and church. Parang ganito din po ung Immaculate Conception Chruch sa Sta.Mesa(stop n' shop). Naalala ko tuloy nung dun pa ako nakatira. Pero ngayon napalayo na ako (dasma cavite). Pero luckily Immaculate Conception din church nla. Hehehe.....Napagisip-isip ko tuloy.......kasama ko lagi ang immaculate every time and everywhere I go. Thanx po...Have a Blessed Sunday to u nd ur family.

    hello there. I cant thank you enough for publising these wonderful photos. Indeed it has been transformed and you sure brought me back to memory lane. I do not remember my batch year but Joel Atencio got me started in the site. I will make sure I visit the Cathedral in my visit to MNL in Jan 2013. well done to you and God bless. Abbey Magalad

The Cojuangco Ancestral House

Our next journey takes us to a historic town in Bulacan, thirty minutes north of Manila. My road trip buddies, my college friends who all share with me the same fascination for heritage houses were privileged by an invitation from Melecio Cojuangco to visit their ancestral house in Malolos. Mel, his cousin in law Marissa Lopa, Rima Datuin and Evelyn Bautista  and I discovered each other's funny bone   because of our love for the ice cream served in a huge bowl at Peninsula Manila's lobby. One evening, to justify our appetite, we pretended it was my birthday and we had the string quartet play happy birthday for me, from then on, we became good friends. Mel's grandfather,  Jose Cojuangco  was born at the Malolos house, very near the Barasoain Church. Jose's mother traded rice from Nueva Ecija, sacks transported by boat via the river at the back of the kamalig to Binondo, Manila.
